When I first started doing oil portraits, I did very detailed pencil sketches on the canvas before starting to paint. In some cases, I worked so hard at getting the drawings right that I didn't want to paint over them, so I began doing pencil portraits separately, on paper, and now do my oil portraits over a rough outline in pencil.

If you would like to order a pencil portrait, I can do them from photographs sent to me as email attachments or by regular mail. I can also take the photos myself if you live in the NY/NJ area. If you have photos available now, and want to send them as attachments, e-mail me at skipvanlenten@fastmail.net, or mail them to:

Price includes a shipping and insurance fee of $5.00. The cost of doing more than one subject, or doing larger drawings, can be worked out by email. I accept payments on the "honor system." I will send you the portrait when it is finished, and if you are satisfied with it, you can send me a personal check or M.O. The only thing I ask is permission to publish a photo of the portrait on this site. Thanks for stopping by.
